Grants funding program for Internet-related community projects in WA
Community-focused organisations and individuals can now apply for funding to assist in the growth and development of the Internet community in Western Australia. The 2009/10 round of grants funding has just been launched by the Western Australian Internet Association (WAIA).
WAIA has allocated grant funding to be provided for this three year program. Over the past two years this program has seen some very worthwhile projects and activities successfully apply for funding of between $2,000 and $5,000.
Examples of activities or projects for which funding requests may be approved include Internet safety and awareness programs for children or schools; operation of community based Internet related training programs, improved community access to Internet networks, and Internet related community advisory or help services.
Funding can be provided for a broad range of Internet related community projects within Western Australia. Funding preference will be given to community focused not-for-profit organisations or individuals with community focused not-for-profit projects.
Grant recipients from the 2008/09 round of grant funding have included a very successful Diabetes WA project to add information sessions on diabetes and nutrition to their website, as podcasts for people who are restricted from accessing Diabetes WA’s information programs. Other grant recipient projects from last year include the following:
Applications close on Wednesday 7 October 2009. Initial grant funds will be paid to successful applicants at a WAIA Breakfast event late November 2009.
